VITAdLS was born out of a desire to simplify at-home health monitoring for older adults. While health monitoring technology has come a long way in helping people age healthily at home, too often, the technology proves complicated. Internet connection, Bluetooth pairing, and smartphone apps place undue burden on older adult users. This burden means that many older adults end up not monitoring their vitals as consistently as they should.

VITAdLS sought to eliminate barriers to at-home health monitoring with the development of the VITAdLS Gateway. With funding from the National Science Foundation, VITAdLS pioneered the ability to automatically connect to iHealth medical devices and upload each measurement without additional action required from the user.
